Sarmang Dehradun Marathon Announces Date for Second Edition of International Marathon. Race Day: 08 October 2023.
Sarmang Adventure Tours is thrilled to announce the eagerly awaited date for the second edition of the Sarmang Dehradun Marathon, an esteemed international marathon. The race is scheduled to take place on the exciting Race Day, 08 October 2023.
Building on the tremendous success of its inaugural edition, the Sarmang Dehradun Marathon is set to captivate runners and enthusiasts once again. Beyond being a race, it is an opportunity to experience the picturesque beauty of Dehradun while embracing the spirit of running and camaraderie.
The Course Record for the full marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers stands at an impressive 2 hours, 30 minutes, and 31 seconds. Likewise, the Course Record for the half marathon distance of 21.0975 kilometers is an admirable 1 hour, 7 minutes, and 43 seconds. This marathon proudly holds the prestigious certification from the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), a testament to its excellence. Notably, it is the only AIMS certified race in Uttarakhand, underlining its significance in the region.
Directed by an RRCA certified race director, the Sarmang Dehradun Marathon ensures the highest standards of organization and safety for all participants. The race committee extended the last date of registration to 15 September 2022, earlier the last date of registration was 15 August 2022. After 15 September 2022, registrations with increased prize will be available till 30 September 2022.
The first edition of Sarmang Dehradun Marathon is being directed by Race Director Anil Mohan who is an RRCA certified race director.
Sarmang Dehradun Marathon is giving a total prize money of around 4 Lakh INR to top finishers of the four events.
The race attracts runners from all age groups starting from 6 years to 8 years. For beginners 2Km walk/run option is also there.
The course of Sarmang Dehradun Marathon is in the outskirts of Dehradun city, the races will go along the riverside, surrounded by beautiful forests and scenic mountains. The weather of Dehradun will be pleasing in the month of October as the monsoon has just ended and the winter is about to come.
The race is being conducted in the festive environment as the biggest festival of India, Diwali is just one week after the race. This is also a good time for tourists to visit Dehradun and nearby areas like Mussoorie, Rishikesh(also known as Yoga city of India) and Haridwar.

Sarmang Adventure Tours announces cash prize for full marathon winners in Sarmang Dehradun Marathon to be held on 16 October 2022.
After cancellation of first edition of Sarmang Dehradun Marathon in 2021, the promoters of marathon Sarmang Adventure Tours announces the marathon to be held on 16 October 2022. The events include full marathon(42.195 km), half marathon (21.0975 km), 10 km, 5 km and run for doon fun run.
On saturday, the promoters announced the cash prize for top finishers of full marathon (42.195 km). The total cash prize of 2 Lakh wil be awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers of the full marathon race. The first top finisher in both male and female categories will be awarded with cash prize of INR 50,000/-, the second and third top finishers in both male and female categories will be awarded with cash prize of INR 30,000/- and INR 20,000/- respectively. The cash prizes for half marathon and 10K events will be announced by the promoters in coming days.
Sarmang Dehradun Marathon is the first AIMS (Association of International Marathon and Distance Running) member event in Uttarakhand and nearby states Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. The course(route) of all the four major events(marathon,half marathon,10K and 5K) are certified by world athletics last year.
Being a world athletics certified race and member of AIMS all the finishers of Sarmang Dehradun Marathon will be eligible to participate in tata mumbai marathon and all top marathons of the world like Boston Marathon, Berlin Marathon and London Marathon.
“Registrations of Indian participants for all four races have already been started. We are expecting around 5,000 Indian participants in the first edition of Sarmang Dehradun Marathon '' said Anil Mohan, founder of Sarmang Adventure Tours and Race Director of Sarmang Dehradun Marathon. As you are aware of the covid-19 pandemic condition in India. Uttarakhand is still in lockdown with some relaxation. We have decided not to open the registration for Sarmang Dehradun Marathon .
We will take the further decision for the opening of registration on 30 July 2021.
We are concerned about the health and well being of all the runners, volunteers, supporting staff and officials.
We urge you to have patience, let the situation be under control,let most of the population is vaccinated.

14 March 2021, Dehradun, Sarmang Adventure Tours conducted a press conference today at Uttaranchal press club.
Anil Mohan, the founder of Sarmang Adventure Tours told reporters that now International level Marathon and Half Marathon will happen in Dehradun, as World Athletics has certified the course of Sarmang Dehradun Marathon (42.195 km) and Sarmang Dehradun Half Marathon (21.0975km).
World Athletics (name since October 2019, formerly known as the International Amateur Athletic Federation and International Association of Athletics Federations, both abbreviated as the IAAF), is the international governing body for the sport of athletics, covering track and field, cross country running, road running, racewalking, mountain running, and ultra running. Included in its charge are the standardization of rules and regulations for the sports, recognition and management of world records, and the organisation and sanctioning of athletics competitions, including the World Athletics Championships. The organisation's president is Sebastian Coe of the United Kingdom, who was elected in 2015 and re-elected unopposed in 2019 for a further four years.
Sarmang Dehradun Half Marathon has recently happened on 07 March 2021 at Maldevta,in which around 50 runners from various age groups took part.
Along with Half Marathon and Full Marathon, Sarmang Dehradun 10 KM and Sarmang Dehradun 05 Kilometer running distances are also certified by World Athletics.
The entire course was measured by Mr. Amir Shandiwan from Mumbai, the only certified measurement expert identified by World Athletics in India. The courses of Marathon,Half Marathon,10 kilometers and 5 kilometers were measured on 21 February 2021. The race course is along the maldevta road, sahastradhara road and asthal road. The World Athletic International measurement certificates for all the races were issued on 11 March 2021 signed by Dave Cundy, international measurement administrator.
The full marathon event Sarmang Dehradun Marathon will happen in the month of september, the exact date for the same will be announced soon. The venue of the marathon would probably be Maharana Pratap Sports College, Dehradun
